THE TRIPLE H NET
Memorial Services for Gene Adkins, W4GA were held
October 16-17, 2008

December 10, 2008

 Program

After "Amazing Grace" was sung, W7FTT gave condolences to the Adkins family and friends
on behalf of the Triple H Net. Jim briefly spoke of Gene's participation in the HHH Net
as an NCS, relay, and the official 'proctor'. With Tomiko's (Gene's xyl), permission,
Jim also related the events that occurred when Gene was presented with the Net's
first 'Lifetime Achievement Award' at the 25th anniversary convention in Des Moines,
Iowa (2001). Jim expressed the feelings and concerns he had received from numerous Net
members by e-mail messages, phone calls, and recent radio contacts, as well as how
much Gene's presence would be sorely missed by all those that knew him for the 25 years
he had been with the Net.

After a song was sung by a family member, Reverend Adkins then gave a sermon on love, and
how Gene's life related to Christ and His love for all of us.

Casket

The following day, an outdoor military service was held at the same chapel, conducted by
military servicemen from neighboring Kingsport, along with Reverend Adkins. A three-volley
salute was done by seven military riflemen, then the flag was folded, given to Barbara
(daughter), who then emotionally presented it to her mom, Tomiko. (The photography was
done by W7FTT).

Gene QSL Card

Gene Adkins, July, 2006 W4GA's QSL Card

With the loss of Gene, Tomiko no longer has any significant income whatsoever! Ed asked
Jim about selling Gene's radio equipment....possibly to any of the Net members. W7FTT is
looking into that possibility.

If you would like to help out Tomiko, please contact W7FTT directly. Please do not send
anything to W4GA's address, other than cards. Ed also asked Jim to collect any funds to
either purchase equipment, or to donate to a 'memorial fund' for Tomiko's expenses. Contact
Jim via e-mail for any additional details. Those who make donations (of any amount) will
receive a W4GA 'memorial QSL card'. Jim would like to send any collected funds directly
to Ed (not to Tomiko) before Christmas. If you wish to talk about this on the Net, you
may do so, but do NOT mention the words 'cash', 'money', 'expense', etc. Use something
like, "If you would like to make a donation to the "W4GA Memorial Fund", please contact
W7FTT directly." (or) "If you would like to assist Tomiko, or are interested in some of
W4GA's radio equipment, contact W7FTT directly. Please remember that you can make any
donation amount without buying any radio equipment. If you send a check, please make it
out to 'Jim Young'.

Because of liability issues for anyone taking down the towers/antennas, as well as for the
property, Ed Adkins will remove those items to the ground (as time permits), and then
he may allow individuals to come and make offers for individual pieces, etc.

Tower-Yagi
We are working out the details on how individuals will get the equipment they make a donation for.
Shipping will be up to the one making the donation, but Ed Adkins (son) is willing to box up each of
the items for UPS shipment, and contact me with the shipping costs.  Please keep this in mind.

As of 12/6/08, donations = $5030.00

A Bank Cashier's Check for $3850.00 was sent to Tomiko 12/6/08 with a card
signed "The Triple H Net".
